Growing Strong in the Face of Separation

When a parent is incarcerated, a child’s world shifts. Rising Roots is a year-round, community-driven initiative dedicated to helping children impacted by incarceration grow with strength, confidence, and hope. Through leadership-building activities, nature-based programs, and long-term mentorship, we guide children on a path of healing and resilience.

With the continued support of Mothers Bail Bond, Rising Roots serves as a safe haven for youth navigating the emotional weight of parental incarceration.

Why Rising Roots Exists

Over 5 million children in the U.S. have experienced the incarceration of a parent. These children face unique emotional, social, and developmental challenges—but with the right support, they can rise above and thrive.

Our mission is to plant seeds of empowerment, nurture emotional growth, and give every child the tools to overcome adversity and rewrite their own story.

What We Offer

Summer Leadership Camp
A transformative outdoor experience where children ages 8–18 explore nature, build friendships, and learn leadership in a supportive, judgment-free space.
Mentorship That Lasts
Every participant is paired with a trained adult mentor who commits to walking alongside them year-round with compassion, guidance, and trust.
Monthly Workshops & Community Days
From creative arts to emotional resilience sessions, our monthly meetups help youth process complex emotions and celebrate their growth.
Support for Caregivers
We extend resources and emotional support to the guardians raising these children—because healing is a family effort.
